Been looking at the HTV Vive for Steam. I prefer the motion aspect of VR over the sitting aspect, so the Vive would be perfect. I’d also probably build a little PC with heavy emphasis on GPU, and CPU second, to hook up to my living room TV.

I have heard good things about the vive. Just make sure, if you do build a pc, not to skimp on the CPU too much. A weak CPU with an awesome GPU will bottleneck the GPU and you will be upset. Cheers!

Your minimum specs should be: i5 6500, GTX 1060 (minimum) and 8 gigs of ram (minimum) I suggest two sticks for dual channel so, 2x 4GB or 2x 8GB.

If you’re feeling adventurous, this should fit into a nice, console sized mini ITX case.

random question. What is so cool about VR?

I mean i play a game to play a game. Not to pretend its real life. If i want something realistic i leave my room

It’s nice feeling immersed in a game. Makes the experience far better.

It’s super fun. The immersion adds so much. It’s really hard to describe, but it has little to do with realism. I’d say it’s more...freedom. You can do whatever you want with your hands and body. Instead of using a controller to aim a gun you just aim it. You don’t have to look forward all the time, you can look wherever.

Driving games are amazing with it, it feels natural if you have a steering wheel. Games that would otherwise be boring, like a bow and arrow ‘defend your castle’ game, are the most fun I’ve ever had with a game.

I have one and love it. Built my computer just for it.

Elite dangerous is neat, but I couldn’t get into it. Seems boring to me, maybe I just don’t know how to play. The VR is cool though.

My specs are i7 6700k, 1070 founders edition, 32gb ram. I haven’t had any performance issues, and as a bonus I can run GTA V maxed out and only dip below 60 FPS when I go to somewhere with an absurd amount of grass

You should wait for the followup to the Vive. I’ve got a co-worker who bought a Vive, wouldn’t stop using it for about a month and now hasn’t touched it since.

Don’t be an early adopter. Wait for at least the second generation.
